Our Mission Statement is:
To live God's love in church and community
We are a family of Christians worshipping Jesus Christ in the centre of Basingstoke.
'United' is an important part of our story. We started when English Presbyterians merged with English and Welsh Congregationalists in 1972. Churches of Christ joined in 1981 and Scottish Congregationalists in 2000. We still work as closely as we can with Christians of all traditions and styles.
'Reformed' means that we delight in the Bible, we do not fear change, and we try to run our churches in ways that take everyone's insight and contribution seriously.
And we are one 'Church'. We aim to grow through supporting one another and taking decisions together.
The foundation in Basingstoke of our United Reformed Church (then Congregational) dates back at least as far as 1663 when an Independent Community was formed in Basingstoke shortly after the Act of Uniformity in 1662. Our present building was consecrated in 1801.
We may be 350 years old, but the Lord has work for us today in Basingstoke and the wider community. I invite you to explore our website, to join us for worship on a Sunday morning, to come and pray with us during the week or simply pop into our community cafe. Welcome, a word so often used but never worn out. Come and join us as we discover what God calls us to do.
